Tune Up /ˈto͞onəp/ noun A suite of preventive maintenance services performed on a vehicle to ensure it continues to perform well
I am surrounded by high-performing, sophisticated professionals who seem to have it all put together. But you’d be surprised at how many of them are neglecting the most basic infrastructure of their lives - the seemingly small financial, organizational, legal, and other details that they ignore until it’s too late:
- They don’t know their annual burn rate
- They don’t have an emergency fund set aside
- They don’t have a good handle on their investment portfolios or when they can retire
- Their spouses don’t know what to do in the event they pass away unexpectedly
- They have no wills or trusts set up
They’re not alone: 70% of Americans admit to being stressed about their personal finances and only 45% of US adults have an emergency fund.
Why is this?
We are overwhelmed. We are distracted by more “urgent” issues: getting dinner ready for the kids, urgent deliverables and deadlines at work. We are fatigued with decisions (“which kind of life insurance do I get?”) that make it hard to finalize things.
We think that we always have time to figure out things like wills, or time to set up that emergency fund.
These things seem small, insignificant. Until something bad happens and you realize these things were not the pebbles you thought they were, but boulders lurking in the shadows.
The Tune Up was created to fix this. In this course, you will receive straight-forward maintenance steps to take each week for 9 weeks.
I’ll explain the steps, why they matter, and give you my preferred tools & templates to accomplish them.
At the end of the Tune Up, you’ll have regained control and agency over your life.
